Contact Lens Wetting

Contact lens wetting is an application where the Data Physics Optical Contact Angle instrument is particularly useful and commonly used. A number of specialist lens holders are available as is contact angle determination software specific to curved surfaces. This has allowed the optical contact angle technique to address the exacting demands of a number of lens manufacturers and optical device research facilities.

Variability in wetting properties and levels of surface polar / non-polar bonding groups can be quarantined by XPS or local stains analysed by imaging SIMS, SEM/ EDX or FTIR washing techniques.
